A book I’d been waiting to be published for years: the only guide you’ll ever need to de-plastic your life.
How to Give up Plastic
As much as I like to think I’m proactive in actively removing plastic from my life, i’m certainly not doing enough. I do try though. I recently wrote about how to be an ethical consumer, where I explored how it was possible to shop ethically under a certain budget. I then went on to think about sustainable fishing and how we often opt for the most popular species of fish, (cod, haddock) rather than buying those more sustainable but equally as tasty. So it’s always on my mind. I’m always thinking about how can I make my life less impactful to the environment.
When Penguin asked if I wanted to join in on the blog tour for How to Give up Plastic (out today: 24th May!), written by Will McCallum, the Head of Oceans at Greenpeace, I couldn’t not!
Let’s get serious for a second
Did you know that up to 12.7 million tonnes of plastic are entering our oceans every year? It’s so sad to hear that something we can control ends up killing over 1 million seabirds and 100,000 marine mammals. By 2050 there is likely to be more plastic in the ocean than fish by weight. I honestly can’t comprehend this in my mind but all I know is that something needs to be done!
How to Give up Plastic is the perfect guide to what us as a nation can do around the home. It’s all about the small changes right? Start with one change and make it a habit. Add another one in and so on. It helps not to get too overwhelmed with making too many changes at once! Trust me, I’ve been there!
We all need to take action, even if it is small. It all counts at the end of the day! Together as one we can make a difference. If you want to join in on the conversation, use the hashtag #breakfreefromplastic (and especially if you buy the book!)
How to give up plastic by Will McCallum is available now on Amazon U.K* for £9.35.
Go purchase your copy and let’s make a difference to our planet! At the end of the day, we’ve only got one!
