  • Time... something I 100% wish I had more of, especially this week. @hollyjunesmith did a poll on her stories the other day, asking what something we wish we had more of in life, and one of the most common answers was ‘time’. . This week there’s hell of a lot to do. There’s SO much cleaning to do; packing for our trip to Italy next week (we are inexperienced packers for a flight with a baby!) I’ve also decided to batch-cook a load of purées for Joseph, starting with green veggies. I don’t know why I’ve loaded this on myself this week, but I have. The veg is bought. It’s happening. Then there’s actually trying to enjoy these summer hols, like going out and doing fun things. Oh and rest...but what’s that?? Even though I have my husband off with me, I still feel like I need more time. Bubba still depends on me for feeding, meaning I can’t spend the whole day dedicating it to cleaning. Although maybe little feeding breaks will be a nice chance to recharge.. got to see the positives I guess.   • One of my favourite things to do after going on a walk, is go for coffee. I don’t know if it’s just habit but there’s something about sitting down with a hot, mug full of caffeine after a brisk walk, makes it all the more satisfactory. . Yesterday we all went for a walk up Crickley Hill and as we drove towards the car park, I got all excited as I saw they have a cafe! The car park is run by the @nationaltrust but I’m guessing the cafe has something to do with the @thewildlifetrusts ? Definitely recommend visit up there though. . After sipping on this (piping) hot mug of coffee, we nipped to the shops for a few things before heading home to do bath & bed for little one. Joseph went down nicely and we tucked into dinner (something for my food blog which you’ll see at a later date) and watched Captain Marvel. We didn’t actually finish it though because we were both tired so I expect we’ll watch the rest tonight 😂 #parentlife Today we’ve got swimming as usual and it’ll be Joseph’s first class of level 2 before the babies break up for the summer!   • Little hands... . Always grabbing, pulling, scratching, exploring, feeling. They navigate themselves through the day with such vigour! Sometimes they annoy me (really must cut those nails..) but mostly I adore them - those soft, squidgy explorers, calmly placed on my chest as he feeds, making sure I’m still there, that I haven’t disappeared; reaching out to me to tell me he needs me. I’ll miss them as he grows. 💖 .   • These two 😻 . Slowly, slowly they are becoming good friends. I won’t say the best of friends quite yet... I think Joseph needs to learn he can’t pull out clumps of her fur! . This was taken on Friday when we had some nice sun - where’s it gone today?? We’ve planned to go to @gloucesterservices to try out their roast dinner - after swimming at @turtletotsglos of course! It’s his last lesson of level 1 today. So proud. This morning is all about sofa chills (currently he’s snoozing across my lap) and then once I’m released, a shower for me and then some baking - got a couple more recipes to test! .   • Take a walk on the wild side! This morning Joseph and I went on our daily walk to help him drift off to sleep. We always go around 9am because this seems to be the time he starts getting grizzly. We picked up these pretty wildflowers on the way; cows parsley being one of my faves. I think they look pretty darn cute on my dining room table! Joseph’s been quite grizzly all day actually - those damn teeth. Apart from that, it’s been a good one. He’s had two naps and I’ve managed to get most of my to-do list ticked off - writing my creator post for Monday (cannot wait for this one!); contacting an author for a quote for my new food blog account (keep an eye out for this!) doing my @riverford order for next week and messaging a brand about collaborating in another blog post. Tonight on the other hand, I’m solo parenting again. I’m hoping for a night on the sofa. Wish me luck!   • REDUCE | REUSE | RECYCLE - new post (link in bio) . Last week I decided to record all our weekly waste in order to know which areas to focus on in terms of sustainable swaps. The first photo is our recycling pile - swipe to see our landfill waste. Surprisingly we had more recycling than landfill! 🙌🏼 . As a household we’re getting more conscious of what we throw and if there’s another way to reuse it. I’ve highlighted a few ways to reuse waste in my post, as well as how I could have reduced our waste too. . It’s all about assessing and reassessing until you can make the move to a more sustainable household. It’s not a race - as long as we all do as much as we can.   • I can certainly tell it’s Saturday because I’m k n a c k e r e d. The past 24 hours have been so tiring. Before I launch into what I’m about to say, I hope no-one thinks I’m moaning - I simply just want to tell you my story. Isn’t that what these squares are all about? I want to be honest and I hope I will continue to be! Soooo what I want to say is that the past 24 hours have been tiring. Well and truly draining. I have a baby who has decided that screeching is a lovely sound. I personally think he does it more when he’s overtired, so last night we decided to put him to bed a bit earlier, around 6. He went down nicely but then woke a couple of times after. We made the decision to have our dinner with him downstairs. We were starving at this point! I did enjoy dinner actually - a rump steak from @riverford with buttery broad beans cooked in onion and garlic and some crispy, oven-baked potatoes. . . After dinner we proceeded to continue with trying to get him to sleep, only managing to finally around 9:30. The evening had gone - and we’d had plans to watch the next ep of Stranger Things! That’s definitely now on the agenda for tonight a long with a well-earned takeaway or something easy. . I went to bed in the end. I’m glad I did as Joseph actually slept until 4 - a whole 6 hours! But why is it that I feel worse now that I’ve had more sleep? I’ve not had 6 hours straight in a while and I’ve woken with a headache. Fabio actually let me lie-in from 6-8:30 but I just feel bleurgh. I think I’m just drained. The motherload is real right now. Here’s a bit of reality for you. Since I’ve woken I’ve: fed Joseph, had a coffee and biscuit whilst entertaining him (no peace ever), changed and dressed Joseph, cleaned our en-suite and main bathroom (really should have done it sooner - it was an emergency situation!); fed Joseph again, had a quick snack of popcorn as I felt so light-headed (whilst minding the baby), had a shower and got dressed, took the ironing down, put the drying on, put a cloth-wipe/nappy wash on, made pasta with garlic, oil and chilli for lunch, ate an ice cream with Joseph on my lap/entertained him on the floor.. when does it stop? 😂 #honestmotherhood
