JUGGLE, JUGGLE, JUGGLE
Since deciding to blog full-time in January, I’ve realised it’s quite common for people to think that with all the time you’ve got on your hands, your house must be immaculate. They think you’ve got time to do all the things. I’m going to burst you’re bubble and tell you that when you have been gifted with all the time in the world, it’s still not enough!
There’s always something
If you’re new, you might not know that I run two blogs; this one and Jess Eats and Travels. As I only started running two in January, I’m still trying to stand on two feet when it comes to managing a house, as well as two websites. It took a long time to get into the below routine, and I’m going to lie, i’m not always as ‘on it’ as i’d like… see my 10 reasons why i’m not perfect post for more on that!
SEO, GDPR…
There’s always something new to look into. If it isn’t how to up your SEO, it’s GDPR knocking on your door, which is why I’ve tried to come up with a system that I can stay on top of when it comes to cleaning, so it doesn’t get left by the wayside. I’m going to share with you what works for me, which I hope inspires you to create a little morning routine of your own!

My Morning Routine
7am
The first thing I do after waking up is grab my dressing gown and head downstairs. If it’s a milk delivery day, I collect the milk from outside and make a coffee for Fabio and I. Oh and of course, feed that cat!
8am
After a lengthy period of time on Instagram (oops), I clear away all the dishes from the evening before. I mean, sometimes we’ve both cleared them away in the evening but I do this when we’ve had a lazy eve! This sometimes means emptying and filling the dishwasher and washing the rest in the sink. I’ll then do a quick wipe of the surfaces with my favourite kitchen spray: Method Daily Kitchen Cleaner – Clementine. The citrus smell just brings in all those summer vibes!
8:30am
After a quick play with the cat, I usually grab any items from downstairs that needs to be put away and take them with me upstairs. I put them away and then get myself dressed and ready for the day. As I always walk past the washing basket to go back downstairs, I’ll fill the basket ready for another washing load.
9am
Our utility building is outside, which is annoying when it’s cold in the winter but lovely when it’s sunny! So now i’ll go and put on that washing load using my new fave dynamic duo: the Ecover Concentrated Non-bio Laundry Liquid – Lavender and Sandalwood + fabric conditioner, Ecocover Apple Blossom and Almond. They both smell lush and are completely environmentally friendly – win win! I also always separate my colours from whites. Do you do this too?
9:10am
A quick check of the lounge for any remote controls and playstation controllers lying on the sofa to put away. Usually the lounge area is kept pretty clear to be honest, so this doesn’t take too long.
And that’s it! This is all I that genuinely fit in (mostly consistently) in the morning before I start working. I hope it was useful?
My main aim is to leave the house reasonably tidy so I can work peacefully. I’m not good at working in a messy environment! Being a food blogger, it’s important for me to leave the kitchen spotless too.
