This is a post I’ve been wanting to write for quite a while. Now that I’ve finally got into the routine of managing two blogs (this one and my food/travel blog), I feel I’m able to write a few more personal posts. I love reading other blogger’s posts about subjects personal to them. Call me nosy but i’m sure I’m not the only one. Am I right?
Time to get deep
I don’t know why, but I often get the feeling that people might have the impression that I like things to be ‘perfect’, or perhaps that I like to think of myself as perfect. Trust me, I know someone that really thinks they are (they admitted it!) and I’m far, far from it. Don’t be fooled by the picture perfect photo…
So if you are one of those people (although I’m sure most of my blogger friends don’t think it, as you’re all lovely), I’m about to set the record straight and tell you my 10 reasons why I’m not perfect.
10 Reasons Why I’m Not Perfect
- I sometimes buy non-organic/non-free-range meat
Yes, yes it’s true. I hope that none of you think I’m always buying organic/free-range meat. I do try and I’d say about 80% is at least free-range, but sometimes a shop doesn’t have a free-range option and I get lazy and just buy whatever is in front of me.
2. Whilst we’re on the topic of shopping, I don’t always shop ethically
If you’re a regular reader, you’ll know that I recently posted about how to shop ethically under £60. As much as I really enjoyed discovering that it’s possible, I’ve found it really hard to re-create it again in a normal week. This is again down to laziness but also the fact that I run a food blog where it’s not always possible to find ethical alternatives. I will say however that I’ll buy organic/free-range when possible for all household items. I also have a journalistic brain. I like to discover if things are possible and this was definitely one of those moments!
3. I sometimes can’t be bothered to cook what’s planned and get a takeaway instead
I’m sure we’ve all been there. You’ve chosen the longest meal to cook that night and you really, really just don’t want to. You decide that going on to JustEat and ordering your fave takeaway is so much easier. I do this quite a lot.. more than you might think! I’m not ashamed though as I know I deserve a cooking break every now and then!
4. I sometimes throw recyclable items in the normal bin
So i’m definitely ashamed of this one. It’s just that sometimes I just find myself throwing something in the bin like I don’t have 5 seconds spare to just check if it’s recyclable/walk over to the recycling bin! I have nothing more to say on this matter!
5. I have a room where I just throw junk
This one is definitely getting better but only of recent times, so I thought I’d better add it in. We basically have a spare room which inevitably because the junk room. I’m sure most people have one, unless you’re a tidying King/Queen! At the moment this room is currently storing the bits I’m selling on Ebay, so at least it has purpose.
6. I’ve ignored texts that I just don’t feel like answering
You know those times when you get a text but just don’t feel like answering.. yup, that’s me sometimes. I will reply eventually but only when it feels right.
7. I’ve made false excuses for things I don’t want to do/go to
Basically same explanation to the above. If it doesn’t feel right to me, I won’t do it. It can be due to anxiety and being worried about a situation/not feeling sociable, which isn’t really okay, and I am working on it. But sometimes, just sometimes it’s because I just don’t want to!
8. I’ve made mistakes i’m not proud of
I won’t go into details but I’ve done a fair few things I’m not proud of. The past is now in the past, however, and all is right again with the world. That’s not to say i’m not constantly reminded in my thoughts about all of these things, most days. I don’t let it get the better of me though as I’m a much stronger person now than I was last year. Those that have stuck by my side, listened to my story and reasoning, my every thought and fear, are my true friends. And to any new friends in the future, please don’t judge a person on their past. People change daily. Remember that.
9. I don’t confront problems head on, I run from them instead
If I get freaked out about a situation, I’ll run from it rather than confront it, to the extreme that I’ve ran away to a different country once before. I’m a lot better now and always ensure I discuss a problem straight away without letting it fester.
10. I’ve seen a therapist
Now in no way is this a negative as therapy is a very, very positive thing. If I wasn’t so lazy in this area of my life, I’d see a therapist until the day I die. I well and truly believe that every single one of us can benefit from seeing one, as we all know, nobody’s perfect.
So there we have it, 10 reasons why I’m not perfect. Quite frankly, I wouldn’t want to be perfect because a perfect life is boring.
I’d love it if you could share one reason why you’re not perfect, in the comments. I’m not asking to make me feel better but I actually believe it can help relieve stress by just admitting things. I feel pretty good now I’ve got all that off my chest!
